Mannerheim was a right-wing murdering fascist scumbag. However, this was Stalin's war. By this war, Stalin made the USSR vulnerable to an imperialist attack. Mannerheim was a reactionary scumbag, but far too weak to pose any real danger to the USSR. This was a dirty Stalinist war.
Learn about Mannerheim and come back educated. His contacts were good to Russia and he was respected there. Well not in the USSR. That state was rubbish anyway.
I have. Mannerheim was a Czarist general. Backed by German imperialism he crushed the Finnish Red Guard, and murdered tens of thousands of Finnish workers, labor activists, Communists, leftists. Locked a number of them up in concentration camps, many froze to death. Mannerheim was a military dictator who embraced the Nazis, and tried to destroy the USSR. Failed miserably. Mannerheim was respected by the White Russians, the monarchists.
Mannerheim did not kill anyone, he had the backup in the forms of Finns, you know. The Civil War was bloody but necessary at the time. Many were taken to the border of Russia by train. Mannerheim had no other interests than independent Finland and it was threatened. Russia was interfering and there were too many them. If it would have been the Rabbit Army or whatever, it would have been cleared out of the way.
Right. So there was never any White Terror in Finland. Mannerheim was a sweet litte innocent victim of others in his government who murdered tens of thousands of Finnish workers, smashed unions, and black-listed countless other workers. Mannerheim's interests was that of the deposed Czar, Churchill, Wilson, Masaryk, Pilsudski, and the others: to smash workers organizations so they would not seize power as they did in the Russian Revolution.
There was as much White Terror than Red Terror. You know the result. The Whites won. Workes organisations were not intended to be smashed, the target was the Reds, all people symphathetic to Russia, they made a mistake believing in those ideals. They were foreign in our country. Bolshevists would have not ever seen another day in this country. Got it? Finns are not to be led by anyone, Mannerheim's views were strongly supported.
Soviet Union's invasion of Finland in November, 1939...
Soviet Union's invasion of Finland in November, 1939. Russians were convinced they could win the war in a matter of days. No one expected that tiny Finland could resist the highly mechanized Red Army, the largest military force in the world. And no one anticipated that 1939 would be one of the coldest winters in recorded history.During 105 days of intensely bloody and brutal combat, Finland improvised a devastating and deadly defense, for an environment historians have called a frozen hell. The Winter War changed the course of what would soon become World War II.
